APF-Venice-Stairs--Shadows2025
While wandering in Venice, Italy in 1998 I was first drawn to this wonderful visual intersection of lines, shapes, shadows and patina tones. While working on the image later in the darkroom, I looked more closely at the light toned rectangular shape on the wall. To my eye, this looked like mailboxes were once mounted here, which it turn made me wonder about the many, many lives that called this area home.
